We are a smial (local fellowship) of the Tolkien Society which is an educational charity, literary society, and international fan club, devoted to promoting the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Our Hern Ennorath fellowship is for Australian and New Zealand fans, and we also welcome friends from further afield to our community.

We aim to foster greater awareness and appreciation of all J.R.R. Tolkien's works and all that is associated with his world.

We aim to provide a social space for our members.  Our regular meetings are held monthly online which makes it possible for fans separated by great distances to get together and grow friendships. 

We also organise local in-person events, for example, in capital cities.

We are supported by Signum University (USA) to run Ozmoot which is our annual three day conference - in-person and online.  This is held in a different location each year.  Signum University and Hern Ennorath also support Kiwimoot.
